Vaccine for People Foundation and National Vaccine Institute Unite with Partners to Empower Young People to Create Online Media Against Fake News and Boost Confidence in Vaccines
September 22, 2025

The Vaccine for People Foundation, in collaboration with the National Vaccine Institute, joined forces with public and private sector partners including the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), Sure and Share Center – Thai News Agency, MCOT, Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited (PCL), Pfizer (Thailand) Ltd., AstraZeneca (Thailand) Ltd., and MorDee, a smart healthcare platform by True Digital Group, to launch the project “Shot of Truth: Creative Media Against Vaccine Misinformation.” The project invites students and young people to participate in a short video contest aimed at raising awareness about accurate vaccine communication and promoting understanding of vaccine-preventable respiratory diseases. The initiative seeks to build immunity against misinformation and strengthen the ability to identify distorted information circulating on social media, thereby empowering the public to make informed vaccination decisions and enhancing the resilience of Thailand’s public health system.
Dr. Manit Theeratantikarnon, Chairman of the Vaccine for People Foundation, stated that “At present, the widespread dissemination of misinformation and fake news on social media has caused public hesitation toward vaccination, reinforcing the urgent need to enhance media literacy and awareness regarding vaccine-related misinformation. The Vaccine for People Foundation, together with the National Vaccine Institute and network partners from both the public and private sectors, has therefore initiated the ‘Shot of Truth: Creative Media Against Vaccine Misinformation’ project to promote accurate communication about vaccines, raise knowledge about respiratory infectious diseases, and equip the public to handle distorted information circulated online. The project aims to strengthen media literacy on vaccine-related misinformation through the power of the younger generation by organizing a short video contest as an important communication tool to reach the wider public. It also provides an opportunity for students interested in media production to express creativity, share new perspectives, and use online media constructively — serving as an important starting point in building social immunity against misinformation, protecting society from cyber threats, and enabling people to make informed health decisions.”
Dr. Nakorn Premsri, Director of the National Vaccine Institute, stated that “During the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed an unprecedented spread of misinformation and fake news about vaccines, which resulted in lower vaccination rates and the re-emergence of vaccine-preventable diseases. As the central agency responsible for ensuring national vaccine security and sustainable vaccine management, as well as for disseminating scientific vaccine information to the public, the National Vaccine Institute is proud to participate in this project by empowering the younger generation. Participants will gain accurate and comprehensive foundational knowledge about vaccines and respiratory infectious diseases from leading experts and vaccine communication specialists. They will also have the opportunity to learn practical experiences, techniques, and strategies for producing accurate and engaging media for the public. We believe this project will strengthen knowledge-based immunity, help Thai people overcome misinformation crises, and foster a sustainable healthy society. As we all know, vaccines prevent diseases — and likewise, every one of us can be a ‘vaccine’ that stops misinformation.”
Ms. Suchana Sinthavathavorn, Director of Life Development and Security Promotion Department, Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), stated that “depa, as an agency with the mission to promote safe, creative, and intelligent access to and use of digital technology among Thai people—toward becoming a nation driven by a digital economy and society—depa is pleased to take part in this project to help address the growing problem of health-related fake news that significantly affects public understanding in the digital age. We are ready to contribute our knowledge and provide support in digital technology, including the application of AI, to empower the younger generation in developing media production skills and enhancing the effectiveness and credibility of information presentation. This aligns with depa’s Digital Skill Roadmap and aims to foster public awareness of accurate and safe information consumption, build confidence in health literacy, and strengthen preparedness for future public health challenges.”
Mr. Nimit Sukprasert, Assistant Executive Vice President, Business Development Office, MCOT Public Company Limited, stated that “As a media organization committed to presenting reliable and accurate content in accordance with journalistic ethics, MCOT recognizes that misinformation and fake news—especially in the areas of health and vaccines—have been widely created and disseminated, whether unintentionally or with malicious intent. Such issues have become social threats that cause confusion and negatively affect public health. With the expertise of the Sure and Share Center, one of MCOT’s key units that has been dedicated to fact-checking and producing accurate educational media for over 11 years, we are fully committed to contributing our experience and knowledge to support this project. We hope that the initiative will serve as a key mechanism to reduce the spread of misinformation, enhance awareness and literacy regarding fake news, cyber threats, and AI in Thai society, and help the public build immunity against misinformation while staying safe from health-related disinformation—ultimately fostering a quality online community that promotes sustainable well-being.”
Mr. Pramote Sakkumjorn, Senior Executive Vice President of Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited (PCL), stated that “As a leader in life and health insurance, Muang Thai Life Assurance is committed to creating lasting happiness and smiles for the Thai people, guided by principles of credibility and transparency — the core values that have earned the organization enduring trust. With expertise across multiple dimensions, MTL continuously integrates innovation into product development, enhances employee capabilities through data and artificial intelligence literacy, communication, and management skills, and places strong emphasis on ESG policies, reflecting MTL’s commitment to generating positive impact across environmental, social, governance, and economic dimensions. The initiative aims to enhance public understanding of accurate health information, prevent people from falling victim to misinformation, and encourage appropriate vaccine decision-making for personal and family health protection. This project, therefore, serves as a ‘vaccine within a vaccine,’ helping to build a strong immunity shield for Thai society.”
