Muang Thai Life Assurance takes a stand on plastic waste reduction: producing upcycled blankets for Thais

Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited and Muang Thai Yim Foundation demonstrate the commitment to social responsibility by announcing their policy to support the reduction of plastic bottle waste by upcycling them into blankets in the "Blanket of Love" project, now in its 13^th year. We donated upcycled blankets to cold-affected individuals, with each blanket made from 11 used plastic bottles, each of 1.5 liters in size.

In this initiative, the Company collaborated with Muang Thai Yim Foundation to conduct activities for society as part of the "Blanket of Love" project. These activities aimed to support cold-affected individuals in various provinces and to align with the government's policy of reducing plastic bottle waste, which has increased significantly. Thus, the Company produced new blankets with a focus on environmental consciousness, addressing the issue of waste and excessive plastic use. These upcycled blankets are not only warm and of high quality but also contribute to environmental friendliness by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. With a GSM (Grams Per Square Meter) of 280, the blankets are durable and sufficiently warm during cold weather. Additionally, they significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.99 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent.

The policy to reduce waste by upcycling plastic bottles into blankets is beneficial for both the environment and society. It reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, decreases the need for new plastic production, conserves natural resources, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. 

Furthermore, the use of plastic bottles in blanket production creates economic opportunities in the recycling industry and introduces new technologies into the manufacturing process. The 13^th year of the "Blanket of Love" project is another source of pride for Muang Thai Life Assurance and Muang Thai Yim Foundation, as it allows us to contribute positively to society. This initiative not only helps reduce waste but also provides warmth and assistance to those affected by cold weather in various provinces. The Company will continue to support various social, economic, and environmental initiatives to collectively develop the country sustainably and securely.
