Chase Away Bad Luck During Chinese New Year
Welcome the golden year of the ox this Chinese New Year.
Besides paying respect to gods and ancestors, we need to do Kae Chong (chase away bad luck). This is a tip to enhance prosperity throughout the year. However, before doing Kae Chong, we need to know Pi Chong (cursed years) of 2021.
- Cursed years of 2021 includes 4 years.
- Pi Chong that is negatively affected the most (100% unlucky) is the year of the goat.
- Pi Kak is a zodiac year of such year which is the year of the ox.
- Pi Heng is a zodiac year that is affected by karma which is the year of the dragon.
- Pi Pua is a zodiac year where health is affected which is the year of the dog.

Offerings for Kae Chong
Before arriving at the sacred places, we need to prepare these 4 offerings.
- 1 plate of lucky oranges: It is called “Tai Gig” which symbolizes auspiciousness. After completing Kae Chong, you can bring the oranges back home.
- 1 bottle of lamp oil: It is believed that the lamp oil symbolizes light of mind and wisdom, and glory throughout the year.
- 13 golden and silver papers: Write name – surname, and swipe down from head to toes to the end of your arms 13 times, and leave the papers without burning them, so which will chase away bad luck.
- 1 horoscope envelope: Write name – surname and leave it at the temples or shrines to enhance your horoscope and auspiciousness.
Leng Nei Yi Temple or Dragon Temple Kammalawat
1 of 3 well-known dragon temples in China Town. Lots of people go to the temple to pay respect for blessings during new year. Chinese believes that dragon is a sacred animal of the gods; it includes head, body and tail. This temple has a dragon head. Moreover, Leng Nei Yi Temple is the most renowned place for Kae Chong. Do not worry, there are instructions of Kae Chong in the temple.

Guan Yu and the Horse King shrine
You can pay respect to 2 gods at this shrine in China Town. Guan Yu is a god of loyalty. People pray for jobs, promotion, and good staff. Meanwhile, people pray to the Horse King for having disciplined children who meet kind peple. If you have children, do not miss this shrine.

Guan Yin Shrine (Thian Fah Houndation)
It is located on Yaowarat road, close to Odean Circle. It is a place of Guan Yin Goddess, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with the attitude of giving blessings, which was made of sandalwood in Tang Dynasty over 1,000 years ago. People pray for curing from diseases and having good health.

Leng Nei Yi Temple 2
If you do not want to go to packed places in the city, you should visit here.
This temple is huge with staff to recommend you about Kae Chong. The staff recommend visitors thoroughly to conduct Kae Chong correctly and properly. You should drive to the temple for your convenience.
