What is a tax refund?
A tax refund is a right that taxpayers can claim. The tax authority sets a threshold for net income subject to tax at 150,000 Baht or more. Taxpayers must file their taxes with the Revenue Department. Those eligible for a tax refund may have had tax withheld at source during the year that exceeds their actual tax liability, such as tax on stock dividends or freelance income where tax was withheld. If, after filing, it is determined that you fall below the taxable income threshold, you can request a tax refund and receive the excess amount paid.
