After visiting major cities for a long time, new measures to promote travel to secondary cities have been introduced. Many people may not know what secondary cities are. First, let's understand what "major cities and secondary cities" mean.
Major cities include Bangkok and its metropolitan area, as well as provinces with more than 6 million tourists annually, totaling 22 provinces.
Secondary cities, or less visited areas, are those that are not primary tourist destinations or have fewer tourists, with less than 4 million tourists per year. The remaining provinces are categorized as secondary cities, divided into:
- Northern Region: 16 provinces
- Northeastern Region: 18 provinces
- Central, Eastern, and Western Regions: 12 provinces
- Southern Region: 9 provinces
